Community Participation and Legal Arrangement Technical Section Head, Riza Lestari Ningsih said it is a routine agenda every year to encourage the public to reduce and manage waste from the source.

"In this activity, they can see directly and get an overview of the conditions at the Bantar Gebang Landfill which has to manage around 7,500 tons of Jakarta residents' waste per day," he expressed, Tuesday (7/30).

He explained they received an explanation about waste management at the Bantar Gebang Landfill, starting from the geomembrane disposal zone, composting area to Landfill Mining and Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant waste processing by the Integrated Waste Management Unit (UPST) Team.

"Hopefully, they will be more concerned about the environment and can contribute to reducing the volume of waste taken to the Bantar Gebang Landfill," he explained.

They were also invited to visit SDN Kelapa Dua Wetan 01 and 02, East Jakarta, which had won the National Adiwiyata award.

"We want to give motivation to them, who are mostly teachers in Seribu Islands, so that they can achieve similar awards at their schools," he added.

In addition, they also received technical guidance (bimtek) related to the Environmental Care and Culture Movement in Schools (GPBLHS) program and the socialization of Adiwiyata Schools.

"This education is important, hope they can keep socializing and educating residents in their environment to be more concerned and work together to reduce waste," he hoped.

One of the teachers from SMPN 285 Pulau Untung Jawa, Wahyudi felt grateful and thanked the Seribu Islands Environment Sub-agency for facilitating the educational visit.

"I gained new insights and knowledge that we can apply in schools and residential environments. Let's move together to create a clean, healthy, and beautiful environment," he stated.
